ESCAPED LEOPARD
KILLED IN ZOO GROUNDS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, January 12. The leopard which escaped from a private zoo at Paignton was killed in the zoo grounds.
It was reported on January 10 that the police ordered women and children indoors while nearly the whole male population of the holiday town of Paignton hunted a leopard which had escaped from a private zoo, after mauling its keeper. The whole of Devonshire was warned by radio, mobile police touring the countryside and special constables standing by, armed and ready to proceed to the place where the animal was sighted.
