EKETAHUNA SALE. GOOD DEMAND FOR LAMBS. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: The yarding of lambs came forward up to advertised numbers and approximately 1450 lambs were submitted to a fair attendance comprising mainly buyers from local and surrounding districts. B.f. rape lambs were again in short supply and bidding for these was keen with good sales resulting. W.f. wether lambs in the main were neglected with the exception of the cull pens where all classes of lambs met with a keen sale with prices in advance of those ruling last week. Our entry comprised 1242 lambs which, with the exception of two pens, were disposed of at auction. We quote sales ■as under:—
B.f. Lambs.—A/c. C. Davie, 15/6, small do. 11/9; a/c. A. J. Perry, 14/1; a/c. Davie Bros., 14/2 to 21/1; a/c. A. Faulkner, small, 10/-; culls, 8/4, 7/6 to 5/6.
W.f. Wether Lambs. —A/c. R. G. Houlbrooke, woolly 14/2 to 12/3; a/c. C. Giles, shorn 12/-; a/c. Bicknell & Burch, small shorn 9/-; a/c. Davie Bros., do., 10/3, 10/1; cull pens, 5/6, 7/6 to 8/6.
Ewe Lambs. —A/c. A. J. Perry, medium woolly, 15/6; a/c. C. Giles, shorn do., 15/6; a/c. Bicknell & Burch, small do., 14/3; cull pens, 6/3, 7/2. Cattle. —Springing heifers, £5/10/,Pigs.—Weaners, good, 24/-.
DALGETY & CO., LTD. Messrs. Dalgety & Co., Ltd., report that at the Eketahuna Sale yesterday there was a good yarding of all classes of lambs which attracted a large attendance. Competition was keen and prices showed a slight improvement on those ruling at late sales. A total clearance was effected as follows: — Good shorn wether lambs, 13/-; medium b.f. lambs, 12/6; m.s. lambs, medium, 13/6; small b.f. lambs, 6/-; weaner pigs, 22/6 to 23/-. MASTERTON SALE. PRICES DISAPPOINTING. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Masterton sale, held on Wednesday, as follows: —For the time of the year the yarding was*a small one, but there was <-■. large attendance of the public, farmers throughout the district being anxious to get an idea of values for the disposing of their surplus stock. Competition throughout was good, but purchasers had a restricted idea of values, and prices were rather* disappointing. However, a total clearance was effected under the hammer as follows:—Shorn wether lambs, 11/-; medium woolly wether lambs, 10/6 to 11/1; medium b.f. lambs, 12/6; small do., 6/- to 8/-; small w.f. wether lambs 8/6; fat ewes, 9/6 to 10/-.
