DANNEVIRKE SHOW

THE HORSE CLASSES. In the schedule of the Dannevirke A. and P. Association for its annual show on February 7th and Bth there are four classes for stallions —thoroughbred, any age; coach or trotting, any age; draught, any age; and pony, any age. Five classes for ponies include one for best school team, consisting of three ponies, the property of children attending school. There are 15 classes in saddle horses and there is the stipulation that a hack entered to carry one weight cannot also be entered in other classes to carry a different weight. There are two maiden events and also one limited to district competitors. The horse classes are a feature of the show, they have been improving steadily and it is hoped to receive substantial support, in all classes, particularly in the section for draughts, for which there are nine classes and a points prize trophy valued at two guineas. In the harness horses, the champion hack (for which there is no special entry) will win a 10 guinea challenge cup (to bo won three times). The judge of all the horse classes is Mr H. S. S. Kyle, of Christchurch, and much interest should be taken in his awards. Entries close on January 24 with the show secretary, Box 38, Dannevirke.
