GREYHOUND RACES

TOMORROW AFTERNOON. The main event tomorrow at the greyhound racing at Solway is the open flat race in which the pick of the greyhounds of the district as well as Wellington, Wanganui, Dannevirke and Hawke’s Bay will be competing. Worthy of such good competition a handsome trophy has been donated by the Wairarapa Ice Cream Company. This is in the form of a challenge cup to be won three times. A new feature for challenge trophies is that this cup is put up for competition each meeting until won outright. The cup is now on view in the window of Messi’s C. Smith, Ltd. Carterton dogs which should be prominent are Big Ben (a good dog), Great Worry (a consistent performer), Orui Girl (who is coming into form), Full o’ Gay (who handles the bends well) and Dainty Footsteps (the track record holder). Afternoon tea will be obtainable on the ground as well as ice cream and soft drinks.
