MASTERTON PARK CLUB. CHAMPION Rli\K COMPETITION. The champion rinks competition has now reached the closing stages, all the contesting rinks having been eliminated with the exception of Drummond, Roff, Jenkins, Jobson (s) who have two lives and Emerson, Spackman, Southey, Kilgour (s), with one life. These teams will meet at 1.30 p.m. on Saturday next, when a victory to Jobson will, of course, give his rink the club championship for the 193839 season. Should his series of wins be broken, the final game will be played on the following Saturday. Champion pairs: Contestants in this competition are reminded that the fourth round must be completed by Saturday next. The following is the draw: —Butler and Spackman (s) v. Kilgour and Southey (s); Braggins and Carr (s) v. Buckley and Burke (s); Reader and Simpson (s) v. Osborne and Shearer (s); Frost and Dixon (s) v. Moore and Fenton (s); Roff and Brown (s) v. Dagg and Jenkins (s); Leigh and Thompson (s) v. Nancarrow and Winhall (s). Any of the above games not already played are to start at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Players are requested to note that at their last meeting the committee decided to strictly enforce Rule 5 of the Club Rules on and after Saturday next.
For the Anniversary Day tournament for rinks (club selection) entries will close with the secretary of the Park Club (Mr A. Osborne) on Wednesday, January 18, at 7.30 p.m. In connection with the visit of the Manawatu bowlers on February 4, five rinks are required for the morning games on the Park green ,and three rinks for the afternoon game on the Masterton green. All players wishing to take part in these games are requested to hand in their names as early as possible.
