MOTOR-CYCLE ACCIDENT

DEATH OF PILLION RIDER.

VERDICT AT INQUEST.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day

A theory that the pillion rider, John Johnson McKay, upset the balance of the machine, causing it to swerve into gravel, was put forward by Arthur William Evans at the inquest on McKay. who died from head injuries when a motor-cycle driven by Evang collided with a fence on the Hutt Road on December 24. at Silverstream. The Coroner, returning his verdict, remarked that there was evidence that the two men had taken drink but that the amount was not excessive. It had been stated that anyone driving a motor vehicle should take no liquor. Whether that applied to the present case he did not know. He found that McKay’s death was due to injuries received in the accident.
