WOOL MANUFACTURE
GERMAN EXPORT SUBSIDY. THREAT SEEN TO BRITISH TRADE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON. January 11. British wool manufacturers are apprehensive. fallowing upon the Berlin Chamber of Commerce’s announcement of a renewal of the subsidy on exports to 100 per cent on wool used therein. Officials of the British textiles organisations point out that Germany has been buying from Bradford raw wool for army uniforms and mixing it with synthetic materials, then paying for it by exports of wool clothing. The subsidy enables Germany to sell garments on which she has paid only production costs.
