Chess is being taught at the Wanganui Intermediate School, and is also played by many boys at the Wanganui Collegiate School. Mr J. C. Mcßae, secretary of the New Zealand Chess Council, when speaking at the chess congress in Wanganui, said that among the matters the council had placed before the Government during the year was the teaching of chess in secondary schools and colleges.
