WEDDINGS

McGRATH—MILLER. On January 5 at Wellington, Miss Doris Gwendolyn Miller, only daughter of Mr and Mrs F. J. Miller, “Paerau,” Mount Bruce, was married to Mr James lan McGrath, second son of Mr and the late Mrs J. S. McGrath, of Invercargill. HAZELWOOD—FRASER. The wedding took place at Wellington on January 6 of Miss Sybil Fraser, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs D. A. Fraser, Featherston, to Mr Norman Hazelwood, youngest son of Mr and Mrs Hazelwood, Upper Hutt. JONES—CALLANDER. St. John’s Church, Ohau, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion, was on December 31 last the scene of a very pretty wedding. The contracting parties were Miss Joan Marguerite Callander, daughter of Mrs and the late Mr R. C. Callander, and Mr James Oswald Jones, son of Mr H. J. Jones, of “The Knoll,” Featherston, and the late Mrs Jones, of Masterton. The bride who was escorted by her uncle, Mr Digby Perrett, of Wellington, was attired in a white satin gown cut on simple classic lines and ending in a long train. Her beautiful veil was of a delicate white silk tulle and daintily embroidered, falling from a wreath of orange blossoms from the head to the full length of the train. She carried a sheaf of asparagus, white lilies and maidenhair fern, made and presented by her grandmother, Mrs Perrett.

Miss Mary Callander (sister) was the bridesmaid. She was dressed in blue and pink and wore a headband of blue and pink flowerettes. She also carried a sheaf of pink rosebuds and maidenhair fern.

Mr Ralph Crowther Jones, of Wigram, Christchurch, brother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man. Mr Carl Andricksen, of Levin, who played the wedding march, is an uncle of the bridegroom. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. C. Davies.

The reception was held at the home of the bride’s mother where a very happy time was spent by numerous relatives and friends. Mrs Callander, mother of the bride, wore navy, and carried a posy of pansies with autumn leaves to tone. She was assisted ny Mrs Jones, step-mother of the bridegroom, who wore sage green and carried a posie of blue violas and ferns. Mr and Mrs Jones were the recipients of many beautiful and useful presents. Telegrams were received from all parts of ■ — North Island.

Mr and Mrs Oswald Jones later left by car on their honeymoon, Mrs Jones wearing a tailored costume of aero blue with accessories to tone. Their future home is Waiwera, Hukanui.
