Mrs Reid, Gisborne, is the guest of Mrs W. H. Robieson, King Edward Street, Lansdowne.
Mrs W. L. Hunter, Coradine Street, Masterton, is visiting, her sister, Mrs Haggett, Whakataki. Miss Nancy Allan, King Edward Street, Lansdowne, is spending a holiday at Fairlie, South Island. Mrs J. R. Gardiner, of Kohinui, has returned from a holiday spent at Wairoa.
Mrs William C. Mann, Lincoln Road, Masterton. and her family, are spending a holiday in Christchurch.
Mrs E. Stevens and Misses J. and L. Stevens have returned to Pahiatua after a holiday in Napier. Mrs Earle Knowles, of Hamilton, who spent several weeks in Masterton, has returned home.
Miss Z. Pickering, Oxford Street, Masterton, has returned from a holiday spent at Mount Manganui, Tauranga.
The Rongokokako Public Hall will doubtless be crowded on Friday night when a gift evening is to be tendered to Miss M. Sigvertsen in view of her approaching marriage. A gift evening was tendered in the Nireaha Hall last night to a very popular lady of the district, Miss Voila Drysdale, the function being of a most enjoyable nature. Miss Nelle Scanlan, the New Zealand authoress, and her niece, Miss Babette Rodgers, Palmerston North, who have been visiting Blenheim and Christchurch, will go on this week to Mount Cook and later to the West Coast, returning to Wellington via Nelson and Blenheim. Mrs R. J. Liddell, of the Parsonage, Glen Eden (Auckland), and formerly of Pahiatua and Carterton, has recently been visiting relatives and old friends in Palmerston North. As a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs A. W. Sedcole, who were among the pioneers of Pahiatua, Mrs Liddell will .be remembered by many of the early residents of the district. ENGAGEMENT, YOUNG—EMERSON. The engagement is announced of Jean, second daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Emerson, Masterton, to Arthur Lonsdale, elder son of Mr and Mrs A. L. Young, Petone.
