CHINESE FISHERMEN
OVER TEN THOUSAND KILLED BY JAPANESE

The "Daily Telegraph's" Hong Kong correspondent says 10.092 fishermen, representing ten per cent of the Hong Kong fishing population, have been killed, and 628 junks, valued at half a million sterling, have been destroyed, as a result of the Japanese blockade near Hong Kong during the last fourteen months. A majority of the junks were registered in Hong Kong and classified as British. Sixty per cent of those killed were women and children.
