Fine weather prevailed throughout the past week but conditions at times were variable. Winds up to gale force have been experienced but the temperature for some days has been very hot. However, conditions for seasonal work have been favourable and full advantage was taken of it. Shearing operations are in full swing and with a continuance of the prevailing weather this work will soon be finished. Cereal crops have considerably improved with the advent of warmer weather, but in some instances hot winds have played havoc with grass, which is fast drying up. with the result that supplies of milk during recent weeks have decreased considerably.
Accident to Motor Cyclist.
Mi- D. S. Sutherland, Waihora. was the victim of an accident recently. It appears he was starting his motorcycle when the machine back-fired, with the result that the kick start flew back and struck Mr Sutherland on the shin-bone and fractured it. The accident happened on an unfrequented road, but fortunately Mr Goodwin who lived in the locality came along and discovered Mr Sutherland. He immediately went for assistance. Mr Sutherland is now in the Greytown Hospital. It was fortunate that Mi Goodwin came in that direction.
