EKETAHUNA
PERSONAL ITEMS. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Rev. R. P. Keall, of Eketahuna, and the Rev. J. Dennis, of Levin, have exchanged pulpits during their holidays. There was a very large following at the funeral of the late Mrs M. E. Lawrence. After a short service at the Hukanui Hall, conducted by the Rev. J. Dennis, the cortege left for the Eketahuna cemetery. The pall-bearers were the deceased’s three sons, Messrs Allen, Ray and Charles, her brother Mr Ras Thomason, and sons-in-law, Messrs Udy and Gardiner. The ceremony at the graveside was conducted by Mr Dennis. The very large number of floral tributes testified to the esteem in which deceased was held and to the measure of the sympathy extended to the bereaved family. The late Mrs Lawrence was a staunch and devoted worker for the Methodist Church and a foundation member of the Hukanui branch of the Women’s Institute. CRICKET MATCH. A WIN FOR MANGAMAIRE. The cricket match played at Eketahuna on Saturday between Eketahuna and Mangamaire was won by the latter by 22 runs. Mangamaire compiled 111 and 76, and Eketahuna 47 and 118 (McGregor 46, J. Payne 32).
Next Saturday Eketahuna will meet Pahiatua on the local ground.
