PAHIATUA MEETING

STAKES AGAIN INCREASED. The Pahiatua Racing Club, in continuing its progressive policy of the past, has again increased the stakes to be given for its race meeting to be held on Friday and Saturday. January 27 and 28. 1939. and no race on the programme is of a less value than £lOO.

A silver tea service, valued at £l5 15s has been donated by Mr W. Kernick, of the Post Office Hotel, for the winner of the Pahiatua Cup on the first day: and a handsome silver cup. valued at twenty-five guineas, has been donated by a supporter of the club for the winner of the Champion Hack race on the second day. The course is in excellent order at present and dry weather seldom affects it.' With its good sole of grass and the long straignt which ensures every horse having its chance, it is generally considered to be one of the best summer courses in the North Island.
