FEATHERSTON

PERSONAL ITEMS. ("Times-Age” Special.) Mr L. O’Connor, Auckland, was a visitor to Featherston yesterday.

Miss Margaret Lawson is spending a holiday in Silverstream. Miss Joan McKenzie is visiting Auckland and Tauranga. Mrs Potts, Hastings, is spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs J. Brydon, Tauherenikau. Misses Jean Hardie and Mary Hardie left last night on a visit to Auckland.

The Rev. J. T. Holland and Mrs Holland left today on a motor tour of the North Island. Mrs Chas. Nix left yesterday for a visit to Rauwati Beach, where -she will be the guest of Mrs A. Robbins.

Miss Pat Sullivan, who is in Greytown Hospital, is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. Messrs A. B. Fuge, L. James/ G. O’Neale and H. Rolls left today to compete in the N.Z. Bowling Association’s annual tournament. They propose stopping at Wanganui and Hamilton en route, arriving in Auckland on Sunday. The Late Mr P. Sullivan. The funeral of the late Mr P. Sullivan took place at the Featherston Cemetery today. The services at the Presbyterian Church and the cemetery were conducted by the Rev. J. Mann, of Martinborough. The local branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was well represented at the funeral. The late Mr Sullivan was an ex-service man, and saw a good deal of service on the Western Front. The funeral was a military one, the body being buried in the soldiers’ section of the Featherston Cemetery. The following were the pall-bearers at the funeral: Messrs G. Enoka, R. Astin, W. Humphreys, T. Burt, D. Holland and A. Trower. A large number of wreaths covered the coffin. Mr Sullivan is survived by a wife and two daughters, as well as two brothers (Mr M. Sullivan, Palmerston North, and Mr C. Sullivan, Melbourne).
