HOLD ON CYPRUS
GERMAN PAPER ATTACKS BRITAIN ALLEGED MUZZLING OF OPINION. DESIRES OF ISLAND PEOPLE. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) BERLIN, January 5. The “Boersen Zeitung” publishes a sensational attack on Britain in connection with her possession of Cyprus, comparing that colony’s position with that of Austria and Sudetenland before they were taken by Germany. The paper alleges that Britain has been muzzling public opinion in Cyprus, but declares that despite this the Cypriots have taken notice of events in Central Europe. "After the Great War,” it states, "the Cypriots would have been satisfied with a fair settlement. Today they are pressing for union with the people with w’hom they feel themselves to be radically bound up.”
