The Baghdad correspondent of “The Times” says that the . new Premier, General Nurie As Said, after comparing, in a broadcast speech, the democratic and totalitarian States said that if Irak wished to be truly democratic there must be a more effective parliamentary opposition and freedom of the Press.

The electoral law must also be reformed to ensure that Parliament was more representative of public opinion. He added that the Government’s policy incorporating these ideas would shortly be published.
