TRAGEDY IN ROTORUA
WOMAN FOUND WITH WOUND IN THROAT. CHILD OF NINE DEAD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ROTORUA, This Day. A shocking discovery was made this morning by Arthur Lane, a Public Works carpenter, when he returned to his home. He found his wife, Mrs Gladys Lane, aged about forty, lying unconscious on a bed. with a deep gash in her throat, while near her, with a cord tightly wound round the throat, was the dead body of his stepson. Lewis Cottington, aged nine. A razor was found lying on the floor of the small bed-sitting room where the discovery was made. Mr Lane immediately summoned doctors and the police and Mrs Lane was removed to the Rotorua Hospital, where her condition is reported to be critical.
Mr and Mrs Lane, with the child, arrived, in Rotorua from Wellihgton in September.
