MISS GRACIE FIELDS
PRACTICALLY ALWAYS BROKE. Gracie Fields, the Lancashire singing comedienne, was in Hollywood, California, during December. In . the course of an interview, cabled .tb an Australian paper, Miss Fields admitted that she was practically always "stony broke."
Miss Fields, who is said to be the highest, salaried woman in the world, has amazed Hollywood by her unostentatious manner of living. She said that most of her money goes to relatives and friends, in income tax, ahd charities.
Jean Arthur has been borrowed from Columbia by Hal Roach to do "Water Gypsies."
