PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr C. Jenkins, Whangarei, is visiting Mr and Mrs Lovegrove. Mr and Mrs A. S. Kilsby are leaving this week for a holiday at the Raumati Beach, Paraparaumu. Miss D. Henderson, Masterton, who has been visiting Mr and Mrs Leslie for the holidays, has returned home. Mr P. Sullivan, Kahutara, is reported to be seriously ill in the Greytown Hospital. Mr and Mrs D. Jenkins, Wellington, who have been the guests of Mrs Parsons, have returned home. Mr and Mrs S. Brooker, who have been spending a holiday in Featherston, returned to Wellington yesterday. Miss A. Taylor, Wanganui, and Mr and Mrs Powell have returned home from their visit to Mrs E. N. McLeod, Hayward Street. Dance. The Featherston Swimming Club held a very successful dance in the Anzac Hall on Monday evening. Rainfall. The total rainfall for December was 6.40 inches. Rain fell on 22 days, the maximum fall being 1.07 inches on the 11th. In December, 1937, 3.43 inches were recorded on 11 days. The total rainfall for .1938 was 60.45 inches, a record, there being 198 wet days. Th'e highest rainfall was in April, when 10 inches were recorded. There were 24 wet days in April. In 1937, 44.98 inches were registered, 169 days being wet. Vital Statistics. Vital statistics for Featherston for December are (figures for the year in parentheses): —Births, 4 (35); deaths, nil (14); marriages, 3 (20).
