SCOUT JAMBOREE
BOYS WHO OVERSTAYED LEAVE. USE OF PRETENDED PASSES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.35 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. About forty New Zealand Scouts used their wits to escape a reprimand for overstaying their leave in the city without special permission. They returned to the Jamboree after the lights out hour of 10 p.m., then waited until the gateway lights went out and handed to the Rover Scouts who picket the gates what seemed to be special passes. On examination later, however, it was found that the “passes’’ consisted of train tickets and pieces of blank paper.
The ranks of the New Zealanders at the Jamboree were completed yesterday when'Brian May. the boy who was taken off the Awatea with a slight attack of measles, took his place in his patrol. CAMP CLOSED FOR DAY. CLEAN-UP AFTER FESTIVITIES. SYDNEY, January 3. The Scouts' camp at Bradfield was closed to day for a clean-up. after yesterday's festivities. Fatigue parties worked all day putting things in order. The French Consul is giving a reception in the city tonight, and the guests will include members of the Jamboree Council and leaders of overseas Scouts.
