Mrs B. R. Austin, of Napier, is the guest of Mrs R. C. Austin, Pahiatua. Miss Tinkham, of Pahiatua, is a visitor to Masterton. Mrs R. Mills is a Pahiatua visitor to Foxton. Mr and Mrs N. Irwin. Pownall Street, are visiting Hawke's Bay. Mr and Mrs V. E. Donald are spending a short holiday at Castlepoint. Miss Helen Grooby, of Wellington, is visiting Mrs Walter in Napier. Mrs R. Fenwick, of Martinborough, is visiting her daughter, Mrs V. Wilton, Pahiatua. Miss Joan Fenwick, Lower ‘Hutt, returned home by the Awatea on Monday from a trip to England. Mr and Mrs J. Kent-Johnston, of Pahiatua, have taken up their residence in Masterton. Mrs H. Holmes Miller and Miss J. Miller, of Ngaturi, are spending a holiday at Eastbourne. Mrs R. Thornton Grooby, of Wellington, is visiting hei’ sister, Mrs R. E. Chamberlain, Te Ore Ore, Masterton. Mr and -Mrs G. Wagg and family, Renall Street, are at -Paraparaumu Beach. Mrs Cocker and Miss L. Cocker, Albert Street, are spending a holiday at Oriental Bay. Dr and Mrs H. M. Parton, Christchurch, are visiting Mr C. E. Daniell, “Mathon Lodge.” Mrs Kennedy' and Miss Doreen Kennedy, Opaki Road, have returned from Paraparaumu Beach. Mrs Horner has returned from a visit to Waikaremoana. She is now staying with her daughter, Mrs Guy Wagg. Mrs Leonard Nelson, New South Wales, has arrived -at Wellington on a visit to her son, Mr R. G. -Nelson, Oriental Bay. Before -returning home She will makea tour of New Zealand.

Visiting Mr -and -Mrs W. ’P. O’Bribri, “Ngahape,” ’for the holidays were Mr ■and Mrs C. ! R. Burr Foreman, of Woodville, and Mrs I. M. Wilkinson, of Masterton.

Nurse McKay, of the Wellington Hospital, and Miss Helen McKay, Pahautia, Featherston, have left by car on a holiday visit to New Plymouth and Auckland.

Mr and Mrs Paul Parker, of New York, were the guests of Mr and Mrs S. L .P. Free, Stonycroft, Masterton, for the -holidays. Mr and Mrs A. W. Free and Mr Graham Dawson, of Wellington, were also guests of Mr -and Mrs Free for the New. Year. Dr Beatrice Nelson, Palmerston North, is visiting relatives in Hawke’s Bay, and will stay later with her mother in Paekakariki. She will leave for Australia on January 24, and will take up a position there on the staff of the Townsville Hospital, Queensland. ENGAGEMENT. The engagement is announced of Lilian, daughter of Mr and Mrs D. E. Williams, “Toathrahui,” Masterton, to Sydney James, son of the late Mr and Mrs J. W. A. Falloon, of “Bowlands,” Bideford.
