Persian newspapers report that Iran has severed diplomatic relations with France but give no reason. The Paris correspondent of “The Times" says the severance of FrancoIranian relations is due to French newspapers using the phrases: "His Majesty the Cat" and "When the Cal is King" in describing a cat show, owing to the identical sound of the French .words for Shah and cat. The Shah took offence where none was intended.
