RECIPROCAL TRADE
OPPOSED BY 'SENATOR BORAH. DESIRE TO CURB POWERS OF EXECUTIVE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. WASHINGTON, December 27. Senator Borah, in a statement today, said that he would ask for the outright repeal of the Reciprocal Trade Agreements Act or, failing this, an amendment in order to restore to the Senate its power of ratification or rejection of pacts negotiated by the Executive which, under the present law, do not require Senatorial approval. The senator asserted that there was much discontent among the Democratic as well as the Republican members of Congress over the present arrangement.
He added that he had received many protests from national organisations which /eared the effect of various treaties.
The latest protest was from the National Wool Growers' Association, which was concerned over the possible concessions in the proposed agreement with Australia.
