DULL PLAY BY LOCAL BATSMEN.

The visitors resumed their innings. After a quiet opening Gibb and Paynter became more aggressive. Gibb reached the century in 184 minutes and Paynter took five minutes longer. Playing for a draw the South African batsmen declined to take any risk, and the batting was very dull. The scores are as follow:— ENGLAND. First Innings ■■■• 422 Second Innings.
