TRUCK UPSET
WHILE DESCENDING STEEP HILL. THREE PERSONS INJURED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 28. Two youths and a boy were admitted to Auckland Hospital tonight, two with serious injuries, as the result of an accident at Brown’s Bay when a light truck overturned on a steep hill on the road leading to the bay. Another young man was taken to hospital but was allowed to return home after being treated in the casualty department. Three other passengers on the truck were not hurt.
Those injured were: Ernest A. Anderson, aged 19, Takapuna, concussion and a possible fracture of the skull, condition serious. Leonard Verdun Markley-Lowrie. Milford, injury to back and arm; condition serious.
Phillip Napier Hunter, aged 12. Balmoral. possible fracture of the arm and severe shock; condition not serious.
Duncan Kenneth Howe, aged 20. Takapuna, injuries to a leg. The truck, which was driven by Ernest Anderson, contained seven people, some riding in the cab and some on the back of the vehicle, and all were going to Brown’s Bay for a bathe. When descending the steep hill leading to the bay, the truck became out of control, swerving to the right side of the road and capsizing on striking the bank.
