WELLAND SHIP CANAL
TORONTO. For the first time in the history of the Welland Ship Canal, total traffic for a month passed the two million ton mark in October. This canal provides a deep channel for shipping between the upper Great Lakes in Central Canada to the Atlantic Ocean via Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence River. Heavy shipments of wheat was thechief factor for the large increase in traffic. Shipments of barley and corn were also greater.
