— ♦ Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 40 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 29.86; shade temperature, maximum 65.2, minimum 41.4; terrestrial, 33.7; sunshine, 10 hours 18 minutes; rain, 27 points. General situation: Under the influence of the tropical depression which is now centred north of the Kermadec Islands there has been some fall of pressure in the north but in the south it has continued to rise slowly; an anticyclone of slight intensity is located over the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate to strong but la ter decreasing southerly winds; weather mainly overcast with a few light showers at first but later improving; temperatures cold.
