EKETAHUNA

A GOLDEN JUBILEE. ("Times-Age" Special.) Mrs, H. Petersen entertained over a hundred residents and children at her home at Pleckville to mark the fiftieth year of her residence in the district. A Christmas tree was erected in the wool shed and Father Christmas handed out presents to the children. Then the guests were entertained to afternoon tea in the house, Mrs Petersen being assisted by her daughter, Mrs Doig and her son. Mr T. Petersen. Mr A. H. Herbert, on behalf of all those present and many absent wellwishers, gave voice to sentiments all were, feeling when he referred to Mrs Petersen’s good-heartedness, her worth as a citizen and a country resident of so many years standing. She had worthily reared a large family and these she could be proud of. He wished her many more years of happy life and health. Mr Ben Morriss added his tribute. ■Mr T. Petersen replied on behalf of his mother. ; Personal. Mr Rex Fairbrother, of Wellington, will be a visitor over the holidays. Mr and Mrs S. Daniel and their children will leave today on a holiday visit to Tauranga. Bush Cricket Matches. No further games will be played in the Bush Cricket Association’s competition until January 7. 1939.
