Miss A M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 29.74. Shade temperature: Maximum 62.8, minimum 51.3. terrestrial 40.9. Sunshine, 10 hours 12 min. Rain, 2 points. Genera] situation: Though still low, pressure is showing a rising tendency over New Zealand and an anti-cyclone is now located over the Western Tasman Sea; a tropical cyclone is centred in the Fiji Island group. Forecast, moderate to strong but gradually decreasing winds between west and south, some isolated local showers and thunder still probable but weather gradually improving; temperatures cool to" moderate.
