WOMEN'S INSTITUTE. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Konini Women’s Institute Mrs Conell presided. The motto was “Never mind finding fault with the rest of the world, make your own corner of it as happy as you can/’ Miss Johnston, of Massey College, was made welcome and gave a most instructive and interesting talk on diet and nutrition. She judged the monthly competitions as follows:—Best decorated floating bowl, Miss E. Hirst I, Mrs Miller 2; button-hole, Mrs Hirst; best bloom from own garden, Miss G. Smith. A novelty competition, “Names of Songs,” vzas was by Mrs Delehanty. The hostesses were Misses Jensen and E. Hirst. The Konini. The Maori meaning of Konini is fuchsia berry. Personal. A Petone visitor to Eketahuna is Mr J. Bassett. Mr A. Olsen, of Wellington, has been on a visit to Eketahuna. Post Office Hours. The following attendances will be observed at the Eketahuna Post Office during the Christmas and New Year holidays:— Monday, December 26, Tuesday, December 27 and January 2 will be observed as holidays, and the Post Office will be closed all day. No mails will be despatched or received on December 26, but mails for all offices will be despatched on December 27 and January 2, the mails closing at 7.30 a.m. Inward mails will not be sorted onthe above dates. The Post Office will be open for the delivery of correspondence only, between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the evenings of December 24 and 31. The Telephone Exchange will be open continuously, as usual.
