A woman eyewitness to a collision between a car and a lorry was awarded £2,500 damages and costs at the Manchester Assizes today. It was stated that she thought the vehicles might hit her, and collapsed on the pavement. After this she had heart trouble, and is now an invalid for life. The Court ruled that the drivers were careless and blameworthy and must share equally in the payments. Insurance companies declare that this is the first case of its kind.
