EARLY MORNING ROBBERY ! IN WELLINGTON. THIEVES ESCAPE NOTICE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) i WELLINGTON, This Day. Watches and rings of a value not yet ascertained were stolen by a thief or thieves, who smashed the shop window of J. B. Lauchlan Ltd., watchmakers and jewellers, in Willis Street, at about 3 a.m. today. The window was recessed from the footpath and the thief would not readily be visible. It is believed that the smashing was likely to have been done while a water cart or other heavy vehicle was passing, as the noise was not , heard by policemen in the vicinity. . Lauchlans conduct other jewellery • businesses in the city and the firm has ; been unfortunate in that their premisf es have repeatedly suffered, through 1 this kind of theft, over the last two I years.
