ANNUAL BREAK-UP FUNCTION. PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. The break-up function of the Te Ore Ore Schoo] took place on Friday. There was a large attendance of parents and the prizes were presented by Mr McDonald. chairman of' the school committee. Mrs Fouhy, head mistress, thanked Miss Clemas, Miss Barrel’ and Mrs McKenzie for the care and time they had given in the training of the children in first aid. Preparatory to the prize-giving, an ambulance display was given in order that parents might see the thoroughness of the training the children had received. The children demonstrated what they would do in the case of motor accidents involving a fractured leg, concussion, dislocated shoulder, cut on head and broken collarbone. The pupils also gave a display of squad drill. Among the prizes presented were medallions and scrolls for life-saving efficiency, proficiency certificates and first-aid certificates. Those who received proficiency certificates were Murray Simpson and lan Park. Preliminary first aid, Gweneth and Ivor Allan, Joan Bell, Annie and Charles Clayton, Nellie Carroll, Jean Chamberlain, Rosina Kawana, Mervyn Mill ward, Waireka Nini, lan Park, Maurice Potangaroa, Murray Simpson, Joleen Stewart and Iris West. At the conclusion of the presentation, Mr McDonald congratulated the win.ners on their success in these examinations and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his part at the gathering. FIRST AID. EXAMINATION SUCCESSES. During November preliminary first aid certificates were won and presented to the pupils of Gladstone School, the list being: Bessie Naera, ■ Peggy Hutana, Lucy Namana, Queenie Namana, Helen Haeta, Effie and Katie Hadfield. Altogether the ambulance year has been a most successful one particularly so far as junior first aid classes were concerned. Three of these were held and examined during the year, the last results of which have still to come to hand. _
