BRUSSELS, December 16.

The Foreign Press Union was thrown into consternation by the threat that if Josef Schmidt, the Jewish singer, sang in German, as was intended, at the annual ball, the German Minister, members of the Embassy staff, and journalists would walk out. Josef Schmidt sang in French and Italian, some fifty Germans not applauding. The Prime Minister and members of the Cabinet were present.
