Miss G. Langdon, Lower Hutt, is spending Christmas at Tinui. Miss Wiggins will spend Christmas in Christchurch. Mrs McCaul, Day’s Bay, is staying with Mrs Dodds, Gladstone. Mrs N. H. Prior was a Masterton visitor to Wellington during the week.

Mr and Mrs Avaan, of Wellington, are visitors to Masterton for the weekend.

Miss L. Coleman, Cornwall Street, Masterton, is spending the sumriier holidays in Sydney. Mr and Mrs J. Hennessy and family, Cornwall Street, Masterton, will spend the weekend in Levin. Mrs N. E. Robertson has returned to Woodville from a holiday spent in the South Island. Mrs W. Bathe, of Murchison, is visiting her sister, Mrs D. O’Loughlin, Perry Street, Masterton. Mr and Mrs J. Common, Hastings, were visitors to Masterton this week as the guests of Mr and Mrs J. H. Handyside.

Mr and Mrs A. H.' Falloon and family, Wangaehu, will leave next week on a holiday which is to be spent at Eastbourne.

Miss Barbara I. Taylor, Dunedin, has been appointed matron of Nelson Hospital and the outlying institutions controlled by the board. Sister M. A, Crombie has been appointed to the joint position of sub-matron and theatre sister.

The engagement is announced of Esther Joan (Lois), only daughter of Mr and Mrs H. N. Joyce, Cambridge Terrace, Masterton, to Henry Le Toler, only son of Mr and Mrs H. T. Byrn, Macara Street, Masterton.
