BUSINESS AT HALF-YEARLY MEETING.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR CHRISTMAS TREE. .

The half-yearly meeting of the Druid’s Lodge was held in the Foresters Hall this week, the A.D. Bro A. E. Levick presiding over a large attendance of brethren.

The Grand Lodge forwarded Christmas greetings to the Lodge, which were heartily reciprocated. Visitors were present from Totara and Fernleaf Lodges and were given a hearty lodge welcome. The District President, Bro H. Bassett, was present for the purpose of installing the various lodge officers for the next half year.

After the installation ceremony the newly elected officers returned thanks for their election to office and promised to work in the interests of the order.

The secretary reported that nine members had declared on the sick fund of the lodge and favourable reports were received on their condition. The District President conducted a ballot for the office of District President, the result of which will be available at a later date.

Arrangements were completed for the Christmas Tree function which will be held in the new Y.M.C.A. Hall on Saturday at 2.30 p.m.

The half-yearly balance sheet and returns were placed before the lodge, and the various funds showed that the lodge had made steady progress. Bro. J. Horton, P.A., notified the lodge that he had taken up his residence at Eastbourne. Several members expressed their regret at his departure and a letter of thanks for his past services is to be forwarded to him.

A motion of sympathy with Bro Pawson in his recent bereavement was passed. Members standing in silence. Sick pay and accounts amounting to £4O 6s 2d were passed. At the conclusion of lodge business the visitors and brethren were entertained at supper.
