TAX ON FLOUR
REDUCTION IN AUSTRALIA. NO CHANGE IN PRICE OF BREAD. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. The Federal Treasurer (Mr R. G. Casey) announced that, in accordance with'the Advisory Committee’s recommendation, the flour tax would be reduced by 7s 6d to £5. 7s 6d a ton, as from today. The Flour Millers’ Association also announced a reduction of 7s 6d a ton bringing the wholesale price, inclusive of the tax, from £l3 5s to £l2 10s a ton.
The master bakers stated that the price of bread would not be changed.
