WEST SCHOOL
VISIT FROM FATHER CHRISTMAS. PRESENTATION OF FRIZES. Father Christmas visited the Masterton West and Side Schools yesterday afternoon, much to the delight of the infant children, and distributed gifts. Ice cream was supplied to all lhe children as well, so that the day was quite a profitable one for the youngsters generally. This afternoon. Mr W. V. Madden, secretary of the School Committee, presented prizes to the two girls of West School who came equal for the position of dux—Mary Williams and Ngaire McGavin. Mr Madden then visited the Side School and presented a prize to the best pupil of that school, Doris Phillips. Earlier in the week Mr L. F. Lopdell. Principal of the Wellington Training College, and Mr Hipkins, art master at the college, visited the school and inspected the various kinds of hand work, project work and other class displays exhibited for parents’ day. They expressed their utmost satisfaction of th.? high standard of work on display.
