Clean soiled felt hats by rubbing them with a mixture of warm, dry flour and salt.
By mixing starch with milk instead of water, when laundering, the iron will not stick to the fabric, nor will i't mark it.
When boiling kitchen and tea towels put. a little vinegar in the water. It will quickly remove the grease and also whiten the towels.
When washing, place small articles such as handkerchiefs, soft collars, serviettes, doilys, etc, in a pillow-case, before putting them.into the copper to boil.
Add a little glycerine to the last rinsing water when washing flannels. This will prevent them from becoming hard and felted, and will keep them soft and fluffy.
Rinse crystal in blue water. Even the cheapest of glass will look like crystal if this plan is adopted.
Soak sponges all day in a bowl of cold water to which the juice of a lemon has been adr’ed. This will remove slime, and will make them like new.
Do not wash japanned ware in hot water, as this makes it crack. Wash in lukewarm soapsuds, dry, then polish with furniture cream.
