ST. MATTHEW’S PARISH

UPPER PLAIN SUNDAY SCHOOL.

PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY.

The annual prize-giving ceremony of the Upper Plain Sunday School was held in the Church Room last evening, in the presence of a large number of parents and friends of the children.

During the evening items were presented by the following children:—Recitations by Joyce Percy, June Thomas, and Helen Mulvaney; song, Nancy Welch and duet by Nancy Welch and Joyce Percy. A bracket of three songs was presented by the Sunday School. The Vicar, the Rev. E. J. Rich, took the opportunity of congratulating the children and reviewing the past year's work, which he said had been very satisfactory. He wished to thank Mis Andrew, who was presented with a beautiful bouquet, made by Mrs Welch, for her interest in the Sunday School and the help she had rendered throughout the year, also Mrs Thomas and friends who had assisted in providing cars to transport some of the children to Sunday School. Although Mrs Penistone had left the district early in the year, the influence of her good work was still apparent. Mr Rich then presented the prizes for the year’s work, and hoped . that next year every child would receive a first prize. The blessing and the singing of the National Anthem brought a very happy function to a close.
