HOSTILITY TO JEWS
SAID TO BE GROWING IN SOUTH AFRICA REPORTED REPRESENTATIONS TO BRITAIN. FEELING PARTICULARLY STRONG IN JOHANNESBURG. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, December 13. The Australian Associated Press learns that the Dominions’ Office has recently received a number of communications from South Africa which direct attention to the growing threat of an anti-Semitic movement. It was stated that this substantially contributed to the recent riots and that feeling is particularly strong in Johannesburg, where Jews dominate industry. It is regarded as most likely that SouthAfrica will not participate in the refugee absorption schemes.
