—Thus, Walt Whitman sang in an age long gone by, in a day which permitted only a few to venture out from the cities and towns that they might taste the pleasures of the open highways and the great outdoors. How he would have gloried in the modern age with its power to follow, by millions, Summer’s urge towards the countryside!
