MASTERTON CLUB’S MEETING.
LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS
The Masterton Amateur Swimming Club held the third of the season’s competitive meetings in the Dixon Street Baths last night. There was a good attendance of the public who were treated to a fine evening’s sport. The following are the results:— 2.5 yards girls’ handicap: —N Stains (6sec), 1; N. Ackerman (6sec), 2; M. Pauling (ssec), 3. Time 26 l-ssec. 25 yards boys’ handicap: D. Stewart (Gsec), 1; R. Major (ssec), 2; G. Whyborn (scr), 3; time, 21 l-ssec. 50 yards open backstroke handicap: S. Cardno (scr), 1; L. Maguire (scr), 2; Miss N. Spiers, 3; time, 38sec. 75 yards open breastroke handicap: M. Faulknor (2sec), 1; F. Milne (scr), 2; G. Gaze (lOsec), 3; time 68sec.
25 yards junior breastroke handicap: G. Knowles (3sec), 1; G. Whyborn (scr), 2; R. Major (lsec), 3; time, 24sec 50 yards intermediate boys’ handicap: D. Cairns (ssec), 1; T. Burns (4sec), 2; T. Major (scr), 3; time, 35 l-ssec. 25 yards ladies’ handicap: Miss J. Gray (6sec), 1; Miss N. Spiers (scr), 2; Miss B. Welch (lsec), 3; time 22 2-5 sec.
75 yards men’s handicap: F. Bodie (4 sec), 1; T. Major (scr), 2; G. Hart (8 sec), 3; time 54 2-ssec. 25 yards Men's scratch race: T. Major 1, L. Maguire 2. Time 14sec.' Boys' dive: E. Hollings (17.5pts), 1; R. Major (16.5pts), 2; T. Sexton, 16pts, 3. Girls’ Dive; N. Stains (17pts), 1; J. Wright (14pts), 2; J. Morice (12pts), 3. Ladies’ dive: —Miss N. Spiers (15pts), 1; Miss J. Gray (13.5), 2; Miss Leith (12.5), 3. Men’s Dive: V. McKeague (20pts), 1; H. Dixon (19pts), 2; F. Bodie (18pts), 3. 100 yards teams’ relay: Juniors (F. Sexton, E. Hollings, R. Major, L. Lee), 1; Borthwick’s (O. Keith, V. McKeague, D. Stewart, C. Stewart), 2; Ladies (Misses N. Spiers, D. Heaven, B. Welch, A. Hart), 3; time 76 4-ssec. During the programme Miss N. Spiers, assisted by Miss B. Welch gave a very interesting and instructive demonstration of life saving methods, which was much appreciated by the spectators. Mr H. Glen, club president, suitably explained the different evolutions.
