MAN KILLED IN DUNEDIN. TWO OTHERS INJURED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, December 12. One man was killed and two taken to hospital with injuries when a wagon which was being used for unloading wool into a store in Cumberland Street this afternoon was struck by a railway engine and a rake of trucks moving along the main line. The victims were: Killed: William Cowie Anderson, married, aged 40, employed by Stronach, Morris, and Co. Injured: William Herbert, married, who received concussion. He is employed by Stronach, Morris. John Sutherland, injuries to his right foot, leg and arm. He is employed by Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd. Mr Anderson was a native of Scotland and had been resident in New Zealand for eight years. His wife is living in Scotland. Shortly after 2 o’clock the three men were unloading wool from a goods wagon into the store of Murray, Roberts and Company. After emptying the wagon they turned it round on a turntable and proceeded to push it back into the railway goods yaras. There were no eye witnesses to the accident, but it is' thought that when the men were pushing the wagon back it was moved too close to the points which connected with the main line. Apparently this was fouled and a passing engine and rake of trucks struck the front part of the wagon, knocking it backward against the men, who were pushing from behind. Mr Anderson was pinned underneath one of tiie wheels of the wagon he had been pushing and from his injuries death was apparently instantaneous. The injured men were not well enough to supply the police With details of the accident.
