NEW ZEALAND GOODS
AN IMPORTANT CAMPAIGN i — APPRECIATION of public RECOGNITION. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. (Special to the “Times-Age.”) CHRISTCHURCH, December 12. “The campaign urging the purchaseof New Zealand-made goods is well under way, and I am confident that its importance is fully recognised by the public and that they will respond to the appeal in a practical manner,” said the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr Sullivan, in an interview today.
“Every effort is being made to bring the appeal as strongly as possible before every section of the community, and I am certain that the appeal will result in a greater appreciation of the goods made in our own factories by our own people and in increased articles.-
“I am specially pleased,” Mr Sullivan said, “with the enthusiastic manner in which the Manufacturers’ Federation, the Federation of Labour and the executive heads of all the great Labour organisations have thrown themselves into the campaign. They have made pronouncements, written articles and circularised their members throughout the country asking for the support of New Zealand industries by the purchase of New Zealandmade goods. This campaign is of very great importance to the welfare of New Zealand at present, and I sincerely trust that the people will realise that the success of the campaign will have a bearing on the prosperity of the country, the number of jobs available, the position of the overseas funds and in other ways, and that all will help to the uttermost this Christmas by purchasing New Zealand-made goods.”
