LONDON QUOTATIONS. BUTTER MARKET FIRM. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Primary Products Marketing Department received a cable message stating that after heavy clearances in the earlier part of the week, the market was firm at the close. Retail prices were unchanged, New Zealand at Is 2d and Danish at Is 4d a lb on the “available short supplies.”

The latest quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, are as follows: —

New Zealand, salted, 107 s 108 s to 109 s (105 s- a year ago, 110 s to Ills); unsalted, 110 s (109 s to 110 s; a year ago, 115 s to 116 s).

Australian, salted, 104 s to 106 s (103 s unsalted, 106 s to 107 s (105 s

The present price of 107 s to 108 s is equal to approximately 12.77 d a lb f.o.b. New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14,89 a lb f.o.b. The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124 s :3d a cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 7.83 d a lb f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed, price of 8.42 d Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week totalled 2189 tons. The quantity in store was 5011 tons, as against 2548 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter last week were 1840 tons, the quantity in store being 3062 tons, as against 1415 tons a year ago. The Imperial Economic Committee estimates stocks of all butter in store at 731,881 boxes, as against 197,659 boxes a year ago. The cheese market was firm on “available short supplies.” Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows:

New Zealand: White, 68s 6d to 69s (68s to 695; a year ago, 66s 6d); coloured, 69s (68s to 695; a year ago, 65s 6d). Australian: White, 64s to 66s (63s to 65s 6d); coloured, 64s to 67s (63s to 65s 6d).

Canadian: White and coloured, 71s to 72s (71s to 735); old season’s white, 80s (79s to 80s). Market steady. English: Finest farmers’, 86s to 96s (86s to 965); factory cheese, 65s to 70s (62s to 645). Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week were 13,633 crates, the quantity remaining in . store being 32,158 crates, as against 41,214 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese were 9354 boxes, the quantity in store being 173,475 boxes, as against 153,077 boxes a year ago.
