WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
KAITUNA-FERNRIDGE (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Kaituna-Fernridge Women’s Institute which was held in the Kaituna Hall. Miss L. Shaw (president), presiding. During the afternoon Miss M. Bannister gave a very interesting talk on Wales.
Mrs Munn, of Masterton, demonstrated the making of a miniature rock garden. Both ladies- were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The competitions for the month were judged by Miss Bannister and Mrs Munn, the following being the winners:—Seniors: Sponge drops, Mrs Stempa, 1; Mrs Pringle, 2. Aprons: Mrs Stempa, 1; Mrs Taylforth, 2. Juniors: Chocolate eclairs, Miss J. Taylforth, 1; Miss L. Pain, 2. Aprons, Miss L. Pain, 1; Miss L. Shaw and Miss J. Taylforth, 2. Flowers, Miss N. Birch, 1; Mrs Pike, 2. The hostesses for the afternoon were Misses N. Birch, P. Welch and J. Taylforth.
