Miss Ngaire Balfour is on a visit to Greytown. Mrs D. B. Cameron. “Glendhu,” is visiting Palmerston North. Miss Carey, Lansdowne, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Miss Rae Harrison, Essex Street, Masterton, is staying With Mrs Harding, Wanganui.

Mrs A. W. Don, “Hadlow,” Masterton, is spending a few days in Hawke’s Bay. Mrs S. Macßae, who has been staying with Mrs J. Bird, Renall Street, Masterton, has returned to Wellington. Mrs S. La Roche, who has been staying with Mrs W. L. Hunter, Coradine Street, Masterton, left yesterday for Christchurch.

Mrs E. H. Roche, of Auckland, daughter of Mrs J. B. Henry, a former resident of Masterton, is on a visit to the Masterton district.

The Dominion Council of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children announces the appointment of Dr. Helen Deem to the position of medical adviser to the council of the society. Dr. Deem qualified M. 8., Ch.B. (N.Z.) in 1925. After holding several appointments in New Zealand, Dr. Deem went to England, where she did post-graduate maternal and infant welfare work, obtaining the diploma of the Royal College‘of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (England) in 1935. In 1936 she returned to New Zealand and was appointed School Medical Officer and assistant to the Medical Officer of Health in Hamilton.
