ENTERTAINMENT DE LUXE
“ALEXANDER’S RAGTIME BAND.”
"Alexander’s Ragtime Band" is entertainment de luxe, in the form of a cavalcade of the Irving Berlin compositions for the past quarter of a century. About 30 pieces are given, and in a manner, form the foundation for introduction of innumerable events, backgrounds, thrills and delights of many years, familiar in all parts of the world. The story begins in 1911 but gets through smartly to the present date; pre-war tunes are run through, and then comes the Great War, responsible for many memorable songs, and then there are the post-war favourites. Many people will re-live their lives again in Berlin’s biography. This picture has a definite universal appeal, and so wherever the tunes have been played and whistled and sung the film carries rich sentimental and humorous and exciting throw-backs for the spectator and listener.
Tonight at 8 o’clock this excellent film featuring Tyronne Power, Alice Faye, Don Ameche, will have its Masterton opening at the State Theatre.
